Why are we Americans so hopped on movie stars?

Why not give all workers recognition not just the movie stars? We bow down to someone(s)to entertain us. We know them but they don’t know us. Why not make ado about the mechanic, maid, bus boy, there is no glamor so we ignore? We should be ashamed.

I have Comcast cable, and when I hit info on a movie it often has stars. Who decides how many stars are given?

I noticed that newer, more entertaining movies are often in the 1star to 2 and half stars. Movies from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s usually have 3 or more stars and are often extremely boring, with extremely fuzzy pictures (obviously) and sometimes in black and white. Who rates these movies, the 59-100 age demographic?
