Creams for Getting Rid of Dry Skin: a Movie Star’s Advice

Therese Higgins asked:

Let me tell you a quick story. There is a certain movie star from the olden days that I have always idolized. Several years ago, before the glut of fan magazines like People and Us, etc., you had to read about famous people in publications like Look and Life magazines. When a featured story about this lady was published, and included her so called “beauty secrets” I devoured the article and was quick to adopt her advice on creams for getting rid of dry skin.

You may be surprised to know that she didn’t use expensive creams for getting rid of dry skin. And she didn’t recommend any “fancy” (back then) natural topical creams for dry skin. She used petroleum jelly. And she used it after her bath or shower, combined with the water left on her skin from deliberately not toweling off. Her advice had such a folksy, “down home” feel to it, and since her looks were always described as “wholesome” I thought her advice had to be sound.

Looking back on it now its fairly laughable. A beautiful, wealthy movie star with a stable full of make up artists, cosmeticians and lighting experts at her disposal and she chooses to use a product made from the same substance that produces gasoline!

It would seem that this movie star wasn’t the only one who thought that it was ok to use petroleum jelly on your skin. For a very long time, manufacturers of creams for getting rid of dry skin have continued to use mineral oil, aka, liquid paraffin, paraffin wax, and petrolatum in their products. And while they do give you soft skin in the short run, in the long they clog your pores, prevent your skin from “breathing” and make it difficult for your skin to eliminate toxins…which it was designed to naturally do.

As consumers, we’re making an effort to move away from old style thinking and are becoming more educated about what goes into our skin care products. Fortunately, we are beginning to realize that creams for getting rid of dry skin are only going to be effective in a healthy way, if they are made from natural ingredients. It won’t be long before we demand that companies make only natural topical creams for dry skin, and stop making products that are loaded with synthetic chemicals, like parabens, alcohol, dioxane and chemically-produced fragrances.

Some of the best, healthiest creams for getting rid of dry skin that I have found contain ingredients that are 100% natural, like avocado and macadamia oil. These are rich, natural oils that are safely absorbed into your skin and give you soothing, long-lasting relief from dry skin. And you can feel confident applying these natural topical creams for dry skin knowing that they are as safe as if you ate them.

And while we’re at it, soft skin shouldn’t be your only concern when choosing skin care products with natural ingredients. Besides moisturizing your skin, its important to treat and repair the damage that comes from getting older and being exposed to wind and sun.

Natural ingredients like Vitamine E, exotic kelp ( phytessence wakame), keratin (Cynergy TK) and CoQ10 (Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10) which are found in the best natural topical creams for dry skin will also go to work at at your skin’s cellular level to boost your natural production of collagen and elastins. So not only will your skin be moist and soft, but it will be firm and youthful.

The moral of my story: Don’t believe everything your favorite movie star tells you. These famous people have lots of professionals on hand to make them look young and beautiful. Any beauty advice they hand out, such as the best creams for getting rid of dry skin, has to be examined with an educated eye. And now that you know all this, the best natural topical creams for dry skin will be yours with some smart comparison shopping. You can take it from me…even though I’m not a movie star.

Things to do in Las Vegas: The Star Trek Experience

Ameen Kamadia asked:

There are a great many things to do in Vegas. And Star Trek is not the first thing that comes to mind. But in the past years as Vegas tried to become family friendly it built several of these attractions to get money from those not wanting to gamble.

The Star Trek Experience is located at the Hilton right off the Strip. It’s a great attraction for any Star Trek fan and even those that are mildly interested. I would not have gone myself because I think those aliens are ugly but my husband is a big fan.

On the Strip and in the magazines you will find in your hotel are ads for places that sell show tickets at half off. These places don’t have tickets for any of the major shows that most people want to see but they do have tickets for Star Trek. Stop by one of these kiosks and save yourself at least $15 per ticket.

The attraction starts with what they call the museum. It contains some props from the shows and movies. But the best part was the timeline. They have a visual timeline with pictures of the entire Star Trek story including all the TV series and movies. If you have missed any of the Star Trek action or are confused about what happened when or why, you can get your answers here.

The Experience itself is made up of two different shows. In one you fight Klingons, the brown fighters with the ridges on their heads. In the other show you fight The Borg. These are people combined with computers that try to assimilate every species they come in contact with. Needles to say, you wouldn’t want to mess with these things.

As you wait in line, a few of the actors come out in costume to take pictures with you. They look so real it is uncanny. They look more real then they do on TV.

Your fight against the Klingons starts onboard the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. The bridge is full size and down to detail. The story is set in Star Trek The Next Generation. As the action starts you are shown to a turbolift that takes you and your group to the shuttle bays where you board a shuttle pod to fly back to the past. (I won’t explain so it doesn’t ruin the story.) The pod is a motion simulator so you watch the movie while the pod shifts back and forth like a ride and any amusement park. At the end, if you don’t feel like throwing up you are in good shape.

The other event, is set in Star Trek Voyager. You are taken to a remote star base when the Borg attacks and abducts you. The majority of the attraction is a 4-D movie. Of course everything turns out ok in the end. But it was very nicely acted out. The action is live and full of excitement.

Even not being a Star Trek fan, I enjoyed the Experience. Maybe that’s because I had my husband with me to explain what all the different aliens were and why everyone wanted to kill us.

Diet Secrets of Hollywood Stars

MAIKEL WOOD asked:

Diets come a dime a dozen in Hollywood. They practically fall out of the sky. Any doctor or layman who manages to have an original idea or, at least, a new twist on an old idea, and is marginally successful in selling it to the public is thinking of setting up a shop in Hollywood. There’s probably no other place on Earth where diets and any other idea that could keep a body slim are so venerated as in Hollywood. Hundreds of young women and men (and some of them not so young) employ personal trainers and are up to date on the latest dieting trends because it’s good for their jobs to do so.

The general public is also interested in finding out the dieting secrets of movie stars and singers. They think that actors might have some tricks up their sleeves if they manage to stay so slim and good-looking through the years. Actually it’s not quite like that. Actors and singers are normal human beings. They have their unique genetic make-ups which means that no single diet works for everybody. So each one of them tries a couple of diets in order to find out which one suits him or her. Moreover, not all Hollywood stars stick to their diets. The crave for a treat does not discriminate.

Celebrities don’t have some sort of secret knowledge that opens the path to a beautiful body. Most of them get their tips just as the rest of the people do. They hear them from hairdressers and make-up girls. They get them from agents and publicists. Or they follow the latest fashionable trainer or dietician, just as they pick up on the latest philosophies or mystical experiences. Moving from Atkins to cabbage soup is not more complicated than dropping Buddhism in favor of Kabbalah. Some stars hire people who know a lot about diets to make these decisions for them.

All these famous people have to deal with the same kind of issues we all do. Sticking to a diet is hard on them, too, so they eat things they shouldn’t and resent the fact that they can’t do it all the time. They worry about the effects of such and such diets on their skin and they don’t look all that great all the time. But for every star there’s a small army of lighting experts, make-up artists, beauticians, image editing and visual effects people who work hard to make sure that the faces we see on screens and in magazines look perfect. No blemishes, no unsightly skin, no sagging anywhere. Just perfection.

One thing that could be said for Hollywood stars is that they work harder at their diets than most people. It’s very important for their jobs and popularity and so they try really hard to stay in shape and look good everyday. They’re not dieting experts and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be so. They’re good at other things and we’re content with them being that way. So, the bottom line is that there really is not secret to Hollywood dieting. Just the will to carry on and the struggle to stay fit.

We and Celebrities

Jeff Mouton asked:

One of the most remarkable features of American culture is people’s everburning interest to private life of famous people, especially music and movie stars.  It doesn’t matter if the event in celebrity’s life is big or small, important or ordinary, his or her fans always are interested in it and they don’t get tired from reading magazines and newspapers about their favorite celebrities. Today there are plenty of sources of information about any star and with getting more and more information people begin to treat celebrities like close people, maybe like friends. And when they hear about wrong acts of favorite star they usually find excuses for such behavior. People put their idols on pedestal and don’t let to judge them, thinking that such representatives of human race can behave in other way in comparison with general public.

In many magazines we often can read stories about stars who violate the law, usually traffic rules because of alcohol intoxication or kaif. And in such cases celebrity’s fans suppose that such behavior is caused by tiredness after work. But from other side, there are people whose work is two or three times harder and they don’t drive the car in drink. And it doesn’t seem that work of celebrity is the hardest work in the world.

But when there is information that some celebrity is going to divorce then fans, paparazzi and reporters become crazy. Readers begin to bet how long this or that affair between stars will last.

In general, it seems that there is something like compensation, celebrities forgive us for big interest in their private life and we forgive them for strange behavior.

Cosmetics: Makeup Tips From Models and Movie Stars - Learning From Makeup Artists About Applying Cosmetics

Xavier Roget asked:

Women put a great deal of importance on cosmetics, mascara and lipstick to make themselves attractive.  They feel good about themselves when they are all dolled-up with cosmetics. Just hearing someone say, “you look nice today”, can make their day.  Yes, cosmetics, mascara and lipstick have become basic necessities for well dressed women. In fact, most women do not feel that they are good looking without makeup.  They feel they will be adversely judged if they do not look pretty.  Is there some truth to this? Does society put such emphasis on appearance?

Even though looks shouldn’t matter, the question arises–do good looking people get treated with favoritism? Do they tend to have greater advantages in life? For example, would a stranger be more inclined to come to the aid of a woman who is very attractive? Might she receive better service at the auto shop? Simply because she is good looking?

An experiment was conducted in New York city. Two women were given folders filled with papers. They were told to drop them on a busy sidewalk and observe what would happen. Would anyone help them? When the attractive woman dropped her folder, suddenly people immediately came to help. Then she observed the other “average looking” woman drop her folder. She was saddened when nobody came to her friend’s assistance.

Why this differential treatment? Is this strictly a cultural phenomenon? Do we learn this from observing and imitating others? Well, studies show that babies will look more intently and longer at prettier faces. If infants could not possibly be influenced to be biased at this tender age, then we must somehow be hard-wired, rather than conditioned, to respond more favorably to more attractive people.

What can we do about it?

If it truly is an intrinsic quality of humans to show a more favorable disposition to more attractive people, then there is very little we can do about it. All the rebellion in the world won’t change human nature. If someone pays us a compliment by telling us how nice we look, would we chastise them? Would we question why they show partiality? No, rather, we would be grateful for this compliment and view it as a human kindness.

How to accept this ugly truth?

It will be easier for us to accept this human tendency if we admit that we ourselves at times are partial to this kind of admiration. Depending on if it is to our advantage or not. Favorable when it is to our advantage; not-favorable when we are at the short end of the stick. We must be realistic and remember that a person’s physical attractiveness, just like their personality, impacts every individual literally from birth to death. As unfair as at that may be, it’s reality. We can never change that. The best thing that we can do is change our attitude, learn from others and use it to our advantage.

How to use it to our advantage?

Movie stars are usually renowned for their good looks. To them, their appearance is a top priority. This is because their livelihood depends on it. In fact, some are noted to say, “It is better to look good, than to feel good!” Although, we may view this as an inordinate emphasis on vanity, in reality, it may not be. Think about it! Would they have achieved stardom in show-business due to their excellent health? Of course not! Image is everything in their world. They just know how to project their image to the best of their advantage. We must learn to do the same.

What can we learn from movie stars?

If movie stars put their best foot forwards, wouldn’t we gain limited success by applying their thinking? Consider this–just because a movie star is naturally good looking, doesn’t cause her to not wear makeup. No, she will actually put emphasis on it. Consulting makeup artists to achieve her best natural look. Accentuating the positive, and making negative features less noticeable. Their livelihood and reputation depends on their taking every advantage to look their very best, on camera and off.

How to capitalize on your looks?

Movie stars are privileged to employ the efforts of various makeup artists to achieve their best look. This gives a fresh perspective on what may look better. However, most women who are not in show business, have only done their own makeup application. As a habit, they may be using unfavorable colors and application methods. If you feel like you need a new perspective, why not consult a makeup artist? Their fresh approach and greater experience, might be just what you need to accentuate your best ****** features. It is common for women to consult their hair-dressers for a new look–why not do the same with a makeup artist?

How natural cosmetics can help?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just accentuate positive ****** features and not have to cover up imperfections. Well, the truth is many skin problems are actually a result of makeup! Most makeup products contain chemicals that irritate the skin and cause blemishes, discoloration, redness and dryness. Instead of covering up ****** flaws with synthetic blends of makeup, why not try to correct these flaws by the use of natural cosmetics? You will be surprised how much better your skin will look and feel. Also you will not need to wear as much foundation and makeup! This will save you time, money, and you will be able to concentrate on accentuating positives!

Yes, looks do matter!  We do live in a society that puts a great deal of emphasis on appearance. Without cosmetics, society views women as not fully dressed. We can’t change that. But we can take advantage of this. By wearing cosmetics in a way that accentuates our appearance, cosmetics can actually open doors that may otherwise be closed.

How to Find the Fashionista Star in You

Janet Martin asked:

Women love clothes, shoes and accessories. But despite this love for fashion, some are reluctant to express their own styles. A number of women are happy ogling at others who can strut their stylishness in the subway, in the mall and on the streets.

But if you are not contented about what you are wearing and how you look, you need to see inside yourself and find a style star within. Every woman has her own unique style and all you have to do is to tap your own and be confident in sharing your fashion sense to the world. To help you discover the fashionista in you, here are some of things you can do:

Don’t Break Your Bank For A Hat

It is true that movie stars and celebrities look glamorous wearing designer clothes, bags and shoes. However, average women like us can look as glamorous and sophisticated without having to break the bank. With the soaring prices of commodities and looming financial crisis, it would be best to stick to affordable clothing that is appropriate for your body and budget. Remember, not everyone who wears signature clothes look fabulous.

In fact, you will end up a fashion victim if you don clothes with designer logos from head to toe. Besides, you don’t want to end up like a walking advertisement.

Welcome The Change

One thing you need to understand is that a person is not born as a style star. Even Suri Cruise would need to discover her own style when she grows up before she can be even considered as a certified fashionista. Even Sarah Jessica Parker, the epitome of style and fashion, underwent several transformations before she can find her niche in the fashion industry.

The same is true for you. You should try several styles and not be afraid to experiment. These experimentations and changes will help you understand what you like and make you see what types of cuts, silhouette, theme and design is perfect for your body and your attitude.

Get Into A Stylish Mode

Confidence is one thing that not many women share. However, if you want to be a bona fide fashionista, you ought to be confident about yourself and about your choices. Sometimes, even if you are wearing rags and garbage bags, you can still look fabulous if you just get into the stylish and glamorous mode. Remember that people notice not only your physical looks, but the way you carry yourself too. There are many beautiful women clad in designer outfits that do not really look good and stylish because they simply do not have confidence.

Get To Know Yourself Deeper

Many people get repulsed when they see their body. However, in order to understand what is best and appropriate for you, you need to know and love your body. Come to think of it, you are stuck with your body unless you can buy a pair of Cameron Diaz legs, a Salma Hayek waistline and Barbie hips.

In order to look beautiful and sexy, you have to flaunt your assets (yes you do have assets) and hide your flaws (no matter how many you think they are). If you have small waist, accentuate it by using belts. If you have thick thighs, better wear straight cut jeans and pants. Believe it or not, even movie stars suffer from numerous imperfections; they just have fashion stylists who choose clothes and accessories for them.

If you have small boobs, you do not need to undergo a surgical procedure. You can use your clothes to make your ******* look a little bigger and fuller. Or you can also use ****** enhancement products, such as Clevastin, to help improve the shape and size of your *****. To know more about Clevastin, simply visit http://www.clevastin.com/.
