All About Movie Stars

February 20, 2010

I have Comcast cable, and when I hit info on a movie it often has stars. Who decides how many stars are given?

I noticed that newer, more entertaining movies are often in the 1star to 2 and half stars. Movies from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s usually have 3 or more stars and are often extremely boring, with extremely fuzzy pictures (obviously) and sometimes in black and white. Who rates these movies, the 59-100 age demographic?

  1. Star Ratings are usually generated by critics and sometimes there are options for regular viewers to rate the movies/shows according to their opinion. I agree with you that many times, the ratings do not accurately reflect the movie or show’s true quality.
