  3. A lot of the stars are aproached. If you investigate a movie thats been made, you’ll notice them talk about how when the script was first looked at for casting, names would come to mind.

Star Wars was never supposed to have Harrison Ford in it, but after working with Lucas on American Graffitti, Lucas asked him to do some casting help. In the end, he was offered the role.

Actors have agents, and when your in hollywood, agents, actors, everyone finds out things. I doubt you could keep a script idea secret for a day

  4. You don’t sign up, you’re cast.

You need an agent to find out about big auditions, and to be in a major film as a major part you need to be a part of the actor’s guild.

You can pretty much only be cast as an extra unless you wow them and they fix it up for you. Basically if you don’t have an agent and don’t live in L.A, it’s not going to happen.

  5. well, you really need an agent. they are the ones that find the roles etc.
when you are a famous star, you are sent tons and tons of scripts..someone you pay sorts though them and the actor ends up with the ones the assistant thinks they should read. not too often does a famous actor read everything he is shown. i read that samuel l jackson signed on for snakes on a plane just cause he thought the title was cool and the money was right. i think in that case, he most assuredly should of read the script.

you need a sag card to work too. (screen actors guild).that’s why a lot of young kids coming out of acting school break their necks to get a tv commercial so they can get the card. unlikely you will even read for a part for a movie unless you already have the card.

you can read variety magazine on line. it’s the trade paper for the movie industry.
